The Last Apprentice: Curse of the Bane
I just finished the book The Last Apprentice: Curse of the Bane. In this book, Thomas Ward, apprentice to the county spook, John Gregory, is going into the dreaded Priestown. The spook has, "unfinished buisness" there and his brother died, who was a priest. That "unfinished buisness" is the most fearsome of all of the creatures of the dark, the bane. The bane has been bound to the catacombs under the cathedral for thousands of years, and has gained power by making blood pacts with priests from above. But the worste part about the bane is, he can control your mind, make you give him blood, and, become your biggest fear. Now, poor Tom has to slay this beast. Along the journey, the Qisitor, a cruel man who seeks power from all, slays witches, but none of the ones he captures are never real witches. He carries them as slaves, and in that long line of slaves, he sees his friend, or closest thing he has as a friend, trapped. Then, the spook gets captured. Thomas knows he has to save them, but how, he already has the Bane, and if the Quisitor catches him, he would surely burn with the others. Can Thomas save a friend, a master, and defeat the most powerful creature of all time, who made a pact with Tom's friend, and is now free? It's the darks turn to be afraid....
