Brian's Winter

In the book Brian's Winter, Brian is back out again but instead of summer its winter. The harsh snow makes it difficult to find food and get to get fire wood. This is my favorite of the Brian series books. It is easy to read because our library has it, that where I got mine! If you like the Brian series then read this book it is very interesting.

Football Genius

Right now I am reading Football Genius by Tim Green. The main character of the book is Troy. Troy is the back-up quarterback on his football team. He is better than the starter Jamie, but Jamie's dad is the coach. Jamie Refreno a villian in this story.
          In the middle of the book Troy's mom gets a new job working for the Atlanta Falcons. Her new job means Troy has tickets to Atlanta Falcons games. At the first game he goes to he notices Cowboys reciever Terrell Owens run a fly route and cut inside. At the end of the game Troy notices the same formation and know that T.O. is gonna fake the cut and fly towards the endzone. Troy tries to tell the coach, but is taken off the sideline by secrurity. After the game Troy and his friends Tate and Nathan are try to prove to Atlanta Falcons linebacker Seth Halloway that Troy can predict plays. After proving to Seth that Troy is a football genius Troy goes to the coaches. One of the coaches is willing to give Troy a try while the other has no confidence at all. That is as far as I got in this thrilling, interesting sports novel.

The Sky is Falling! byBarbara Corcoran

It was shortly after the Great Depression, and Annah's father was loseing his job. Once he lost his job they had no money. They had to sell their house and the family got split up. Annah moved to her widowed Aunt Ed in New Jersey. Annah was seeing her new life as a terrible happining. Soon later she relized although things aren't going the greatest, the things happening are are interesting. This proved that change has a lot to offer.

Breaking Dawn

Breaking Dawn is the fourth book in the Twilight saga. In the book the Bella, the main character gets married to Edward her 17 teen year old vampire boyfriend. When Edward was turned into a vampire he stopped aging so he's really 105 years old and Bella is only 18. After they get married they have baby named Renesmee. The baby is half human and half vampire. The baby ends being confused with an immortal child which is against the vampire rules. The Volturi or rulers of the vampire world come to get rid of the child but then they find out that the baby is half human and leave Bella, Edward and their baby to live forever peacefully.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Demigod Files

I just finished reading the book The Demigod Files by Rick Riordan. If you have read some of the series books, this is the book for you. It is all about adventures Percy has outside of Camp Half-Blood. It also contains information about some of the gods, goddesses, and people of Camp Half-Blood. It is 151 pages, just enough for a book and it is a Greek mythology lovers book. I hope you choose to read this book for your 25 book list.

The 39 Clues The Black Circle

I just finished reading The Black Circle. It is about these two kids named Amy and Dan Cahill. They are working with the Holt family to find some clues. Then they are trying to find out who NRR is. They keep running into Irina Spasky. She keeps asking who is working with them,but Amy and Dan don't want to tell her. If you like mystery and suspense you will like The 39 Clues series.

Peter and the Secret of Rundoon by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson

In this book, Peter must overcome the dark powers of Lord Ombra- again. Lord Ombra has captured Peter, his friends, and Captain Hook. Lord Ombra believes that Peter possesses a power that his father, and possibly his mother had. This power is determining where the starstuff, golden powder that holds mythical powers, will fall. Lord Ombra is going to use Peter as a weapon against the Starcatchers. Lord Ombra plans to destroy the world, so Peter, in an attempt to save his friends helps Ombra find starstuff. Peter then figures a way to stop Lord Ombra from ending the world. How he does it, I will not tell you. You have to read the series to find out. I highly recommend this series to anybody who has heard the Peter Pan story, but wants know more.

The War of the Worlds

I am reading The War of the Worlds. In the beginning there saying that no one would have ever known that were getting watched by things smarter than we are. If it sounds interesting try to find it in the library.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid the Ugly Truth

I read Diary of the Wimpy Kid and it was good. It is a good laugh out loud. It is about Greg Heffley and he discovers he is growing up and everyone is depending on him so Greg has to ask himself to start being responsible. I don't want to give away anymore so I will stop there. Hopefully you will read this.

Mickey and Me

Mickey and me is a great book if you like sports and adventure. Joe Stoshack is all about baseball. He is getting ready for a baseball game and he gets a call from his mom. His mom told him that his dad was in a car accident and that he was in the hospital. Joe got his baseball stuff on then hurried to to the hospital. His dad said that there was a Micky Mantle baseball card under a floor board in the house. Joe has a special power to transport himself back to the exact place and time of the baseball card. When Joe got to his baseball game he found out that he had to babysit his cousin for the night. Joe desided he would just sit out and watch the game. When they got home Joe's cousin starts talking about the womans baseball league. Then he remembers that he has the Mickey Mantle card and he wanted to show his cousin his powers. Joe finds the card under a floor board, then shows his cousin. While he was teleporting back his cousin swapped his card with one of her women cards so he was transported to a stadium in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While he was there he was a chicken mascot, played ball for the local womens team, and met Mickey Mantle as a kid on a train to Chicogo. That was the end of the book and I recomend it.

Tiger Rising

Even though this is a short book(I finished it in a day), it is a good one. In this book a boy named Rob goes in the woods behind The Kentucky Star hotel and finds a tiger. Then on the first day of school a new girl gets on his bus called Sistine. Later that day he gets called to the principle's office. The principal says that parents are worried about his legs and how the "disease" could spread to their children so the principal asks him if he will mind taking a few days off from school. He agrees. On the way home the bus he has to sit next to Sistine. While sitting there, she offers to take his homework to him. He says that will be OK then gets off the bus. Later that night he finds himself whittling her into his piece of wood. The next day Sistine brings his homework. He decides to tell her about the tiger, she sounded really interested so they went to go see it. Once there she says that they should free it. In a couple of days the owner of the Hotel and tiger gives Rob a job. The job is to feed the tiger. He gets the keys to the cage and, well I better stop now you will have to read the book to see what happens after that.

War Horse

If you love reading historical fiction books or love reading about horses, the book War Horse, by Michael Morpurgo is the book for you! It is about a Thoroughbred-cross named Joey who was taken from his mother when he was a colt and was sold to a farmer with a son named Albert. Joey and Albert became close friends and he trained joey to work as a farm horse so his father wouldn't sell him.

Then, World War One came along, and Joey was taken from his precious Albert and was brutally trained to become a war horse. He made some close friends along the way, including Topthorn, one of the lead calvary mounts, Captain Nicholls, who treated Joey like he was his son, and Emilie and her grandfather, who gladly accepted Joey on their farm along his journey from Albert.

I think anybody who likes reading about major events in history, reading about horses, or even both, you would really enjoy reading this book. I know the first time I read this book, I couldn't put it down. :-)

Peak

This month my book is Peak, by Roland Smith. It is about a fourteen year old boy named Peak Marcello who illegally climbs a skyscraper in New York City and has to move to Tibet with his father. His father is the owner of a huge mountain climbing company and brings Peak up Mount Everest.

They are travelling with Peak's father's friend, a Sherpa, and his grandson, Sun-Jo. The Chinese enslave the Sherpas and the group has to constantly run from the Chinese police. While doing that, they have to endure freezing cold temperatures, feet of snow and ice and the high altitude.

The Last Olympian

The book I read recently was The Last Olympian. The Last Olympian is about Percy Jackson who is a demigod, son of Poseidon. The second Titan war is looming as Kronos, King of the Titans, has risen from Tartarus and taken Luke, son of Hermes. Percy needs a plan as there are only forty campers at Camp Half-Blood. Percy is especially nervous because of the great prophecy.

A Half-Blood of the eldest gods

Will reach 16 above all odds

And will see the world in endless sleep

The hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap

A single choice shall end his days

Olympus to preserve or raze

Nico's plan is to have Percy take a swim in the River Styx to become invulnerable just like Achilles. Percy follows through on Nico's plan and defeats Hades' army single handedly. In the after a few days and some weird dreams the Titan war finally starts. Percy places members from each cabin at major entrances to New York City, where Olympus is nowadays. Percy and Annebeth, a daughter of Athena are the only back up. Percy loses many campers the first day and that evening a Titan comes under a flag of truce. He gives Percy Pandora's jar. The next day Percy fight a group of demigods that turned to Kronos' side. He only tries to wound them and not kill. Then a demigod named Ethan tries to hit Percy in his Achilles spot but Annebeth takes the hit instead and Percy hit Ethan so hard on his helmet he broke it. The next day Kronos comes with a Draken but suddenly the Ares cabin that had been sitting out the war before that come and their leader, Clarrisse is killed. It is then revealed that it was Silena, leader of the Aphrodite was killed. The real Clarrisse then come with no armor or shield and single handedly kills the Draken. The next day the Titan close in on the Empire State building, where Olympus is located, but Hades then come with his army of the dead and weakens Kronos' army. The day after that the Titans cross the East River for a final strike. Suddenly Poseidon comes and sinks most of Kronos' army but they keep marching to the Empire State Building and make it to Olympus. Kronos and Percy finally meet and duel for the final time. At first Kronos overpowers Percy but then Annebeth taps in to where Luke is and he overpowers Kronos for control of the body they share and Luke wins. He stabs his Achilles spot and kills himself for the better. Percy is offered immortality for his bravery but passes and asks for something else. He asks for all the gods to be recognized with a throne on Olympus and a cabin at Camp Half-Blood and his wish is granted.

Hoot by Carl Hiaasen

Hoot by Carl Hiaasen is a book about a boy named Roy who is bullied almost every day by a boy named Dana Matherson. That is not the only problem Roy has to face in this book. Roy also has to figure out a way to save Burrow Owls that make burrows for homes. The Mother Paula's Pancakes company is trying to build a pancake house on top of the owls burrows. Roy gets together with his friends Beatrice and Mulllet Fingers to help the owls live on. They come up with a plan to stop the Mother Paula's Pancake House. If I tell you their plan, I would spoil the book if you wanted to read it. So read this book, it's good, I would highly recommend it!

James Patterson creates an excellent blend of real world and science fiction, and this book will change your life.

The Greek Odessy

This book is about 3 girls that go to Greece. They meet this mysterious man there. He is a photographer named Demetri. He follows them around a lot. He keeps trying to take their passports so he can look at what they look like, but they dont want him too, so he keeps following them. Eventually he follows them into a Greek cave and threatens to kill them unless they let him look at their passports. He said he wanted to take their passports so he could sell them to people and they could put their photo in there and go to america. I wonder if they will give him their passports.....Or else....

Law of Nines

The book I read this month was The Law of Nines by Terry Goodkind. As you all know he is my favorite author and wrote the Sword of Truth sieries as well. Alex is a strugling artist living in mid-west U.S. when one day, he meets a mysterious woman by pulling her out of the way of an out of control 18 wheeler. When she sees one of his paintings she almost faints. She said its a place she has being to and asks how he knew of it. He said that it came from his imagination but she doent belive him. Later she tells him that she's a sorrcerer from another dimention. She explained that his great-times-a- thousand antcester was a Rahl and that he used the power of orden to send his enemies into aother world. She sais that in her world a evil man is trying to elimanate magic. She said that like technology, magic makes everyday chores simple. She sais that he wants to open a gate-way and smuggle guns and missles into his world to take the place of magic. One day a man buys all of Alex's painting and writes cruel and vulgar words on them to scare Alex off. Then Alex gets a call and find out that he's inherited a massive amount of land, over 50,000 acres. In his house when Alex was painting at night, a woman and 2 burly people try to kill him. Then the woman apeares and literally stabes the other woman in the back. Now Alex needs to see his crazy mother in a mental institution. But more problems come along. Read this book if you like action, violence and modern fantasy!
